Prayers for J. W. Rinzler

>BLOG DC2964 // POST BEGINS<

J. W. Rinzler is dying of pancreatic cancer.

His daughter posted the news recently on his Twitter feed.

He is the author of dozens of books about the making of movies (Star Wars, Alien, Planet of the Apes, Indiana Jones, and Aliens) and most recently All Up, a novel re-creating the 20th Century’s rocket race. Of course his career is filled with many more details, but I won’t go into that here.

I don’t normally write these kinds of posts, but this time is different. I have no connection with J. W., other than having enjoyed his books and traded a few messages back and forth on the Goodreads.com site. I think what spurred me to write this was watching this video he streamed a little over a year ago now. His gentle manner and humble interest in connecting with his readers struck a chord in me.

Based on that, I wanted to share this sobering news about one of cinema’s outstanding writers, and hope that you’ll remember him and his family in your prayers.
