Alicia's #MyAlien40th posts.

I admit it: I am a sucker for grass-roots tributes to Alien for its 40th anniversary. Sure, the Intellectual Property (IP) owners with the deep pockets can spring for new books, magazines, collectibles, and other goodies. But it is the fan who can imagine a project — and sustain it for almost a year! — that deserves a shout-out.

I’m talking about none other than Alicia May Eckford, admin of the Alien Isolation Obsessive Disorder page.

According to the Facebook Mindbank, Ms. Eckford and I have been acquaintances since February of 2018. Since then, she has demonstrated (Googly Eyes aside <smile>), an appreciation for the film that drives her to share it with others to help them become as well-acquainted with the film.

Through her regular posts on her sites, she relays info about the film, its promotional and collectible marketing campaigns, and other fan efforts around the world.

I think that is worth recognizing. Well done!

She chose a very unique way to recognize the 40th anniversary: since January 1st, she has been posting an image per day, with the following greeting:

“Good morning, it’s day XX in celebrating the 40th year of ALIEN 😃 ❤️ “

up to today’s greeting:

With only 15 days until the New Year (or 14, as the case may be for her), she’s on the last lap, end in sight… so here’s a little encouragement for you to bring this thing home, Alicia!

Oh, and another thing: I enjoy her videoed forays into Alien: Isolation and Alien: Blackout, two games that I also enjoy. It is always fun to live vicariously through other players’ experiences when I’ve exceeded my anxiety threshold with those games!
