Introducing… Sci-Fi-O-Rama!

Excuse me while I perform a quick EVA, stepping outside of the normal scope of content for The Nostromo Files. I want to share with you all a science fiction art website that is growing… and well worth your attention.

The site is called Sci-Fi-O-Rama. The home page features artwork called, ‘Transmission 1’ by Dan McPharlin, reminiscent for this science fiction fan of the Space: 1999 episode, ‘Black Sun’ (see featured image above).

I have been subscribed to Sci-Fi-O-Rama’s feed on WordPress since July 2016 and have enjoyed the artwork they showcase on a regular basis.

The site features artwork from people like:

  • Angus Mckie
  • Boris Vallejo
  • Chesley Bonestell
  • Chris Foss
  • Dan McPharlin
  • Dean Ellis
  • Frank Frazetta
  • Frank Miller
  • H.R. Giger
  • Jim Burns
  • John Berkey
  • John Harris
  • John Mollo
  • Michael Whelan
  • Moebius
  • Ralph McQuarrie
  • Roger Dean
  • Syd Mead
  • Wayne Barlowe

(Sorry, I tried to keep the list short, but you know how I am when I get excited…)

You will find a variety of categories, including Animation, Concept Art, Horror, Military / War, Photography, Psychedelic, Religion, Scientific, Storyboard, Terran Trade Authority, Typography, and UI.

And for those of us old dogs, even a bit of Golden Age Sci-Fi Illustrators.

There truly is something here for every science fiction fan looking for their favorite artists or exploring new ones.

Kieran Kelly is a British artist living in Reykjavik, who not only created the site, but makes his living designing UX/UI and running, his travel company. (Busy guy…)

Ben Feldman, who joined him late last year, is an architect, a lifelong fan of sf and design, and currently hails from Toronto.

The third man on the team is Erik O’Shaughnessy, a software developer who lives near Austin and serves as proofreader and editor.

I recently wrote to Kieran to express my enjoyment of his work on the site. In his response, he shared that things were going well now that Ben and Erik were onboard to help handle the load. I was not at all surprised, then, to see his announcement today that Sci-Fi-O-Rama has added a Facebook Page.

I am very glad that Sci-Fi-O-Rama is growing, and that Kieran has Ben and Erik to help it along. May they may never have reason to stop providing the universe of science fiction nerds with their wonderful “science fiction panorama”!

From The Nostromo Files to Sci-Fi-O-Rama: Best wishes to Kieran Kelly, Ben Feldman,  & Co.!
