When no one else in late-Seventies Hollywood wanted to take a chance on a script about a beat-up space tug and its crew’s encounter with an alien creature, one man did: Alan Ladd, Jr.

It was a very simple, uncomplicated story. To me it was basically The Thing in outer space; a horror movie rather than a hardware science-fiction movie. The setting just happened to be space.
