The music of Alien has been much-discussed, especially how the final decision to use less of Jerry Goldsmith‘s commissioned score in favor of temp tracks — even though they were some of his own works from other movies.
That aside, the soundtrack is stunning and if you enjoy reading about it, there is an article at Jerry Goldsmith Online that comments on both the Original Album and the 2-CD Complete Original Score from Intrada.
Goldsmith’s score sets a much different tone, but it is not unwelcome. You have to wonder what the film would have been like had it been used throughout.
And if you are curious about the “mickey mousing” reference, you will just have to read the article. 😉
